Developing a new series of images from my trip to New Orleans a few months ago. The work will coincide with a collaborative project with Felicia Michaels and Natalie Gamble. Show slated for Paso Robles Gallery in late August. Spoiler alert: Mark and I will also be unveiling new kinetic sculptures. Lots to do this summer!

Bergamot Station Galleries

Short visit to see what’s what in Santa Monica. Found a fantastic show at Shoshana Wayne by artist Tony Orrico. He dances his body across large sheets of paper and records his gestures with pencil marks.

Three Birds (WIP)

by marky on March 21, 2011

Here’s the first working model for a series of mechanized flip books.
Chickadees on a branch. Flitting here and there with a flutter of cards. Running in small flurries or sporadically – perhaps activated by a motion sensor. A fair bit of work is going into each piece – from shooting and working the imagery to building the mechanism to building the framework for the piece… to programming the electronics. I think we’ll update the flip-art a bit.
It’s all falling into place and Wen & I are much less worried about all the parts we’ve been collecting (noticeably accumulating in our NY studio) for the past four weeks!
